2008 seems to be all about shoes, any type of shoe, so long as it’s working one of the trends for 2008. There is definitely a parade of especially unusual looking and whimsical shoes going down the runway and in magazines.
One of the styles of shoes that are getting a lot of attention is flats. Even designers traditionally known for their heels or wedges are doing flats.
Now my “yardstick” for shoes is if I can’t run in them, I am not wearing them. Flats don’t work for me, actually I find them uncomfortable, and so I do like and need little heel for my arch.
Flats are walking the catwalk in all shapes, colors and all sorts of textiles: fabric, leather and pleather. Although I have seen a few of my favorite pointed toe flats, round toe flats seem to be flooding the market and the favorite for the fashion masses. I think it makes the foot look wide, but that’s just me.
This shoe is probably popular for one, its comfort and secondly, its versatility. Flats are no longer considered a “casual" shoe. In the past, whenever you think about dressing up, you think heels, but not any more.
Although it’s not my favorite shoe style, I have to say flats can go anywhere now, and look just as good with pants and long gowns as they do with dresses and shorts, so it’s a great shoe choice for 2008 to go flat and sassy.
