An event doesn't have to be formal to wear this season's tuxedo inspired looks. From tailored jackets to long and lean trousers, this popular item traditionally for men, is popping up everywhere.
The tuxedo trend is a mixture of a few other trends that are popular: menswear, retro and elegance. The correct and “frugalista” way to work this trend is to mix and match tuxedo-esque pieces with pieces you already have in your wardrobe. Here are a few ideas:
1. Dress up a pair of boyfriend or distressed jeans with a proper tuxedo inspired jacket in velvet or traditional black.
2. Top your black leggings or pencil skirt with a tuxedo inspired jacket or an oversized white tuxedo shirt.
3. Try a pair of full or narrow legged tuxedo trousers with either a brightly colored or sequined one-shoulder top.
4. Add a few tuxedo inspired accessories to your outfit: patent leather, bow ties, cuff links or even a pair of white opera gloves.
5. Pair your favorite black leather skirt or pants with something tuxedo inspired for a cool “opposites attract look. ” Try an elegant tie neck or ruffled blouse or fitted tuxedo inspired jacket.
Keep in mind you don’t want to overdo this look, so be sure to wear only one tuxedo inspired garment at a time.
