Embellishments are one of the major trends for summer 2009. One of the embellishments that are white hot right now is ruffles. Designers are using tiers and tiers of even and uneven ruffles to give garments and accessories a flirty feminine feeling with a creative edge.
Ruffles are showing up everywhere and in some places are quite unusual and unique. The basic tank, camisole and even the good ole classic white t-shirt is going all girl with ruffle accents. Normally ruffle embellishments are used on the edge and hems of garments, but like her sister embellishment fringe, we are seeing ruffles in some pretty unusual and quite interesting places like on shoes, handbags and as the main fabrication.
Try wearing a tiered ruffled camisole over a pencil skirt or slim fitting trousers for a sexy evening look. Even if you’re a little generous in the hips, try a skirt embellished with ruffles either at the hem or scattered folds and pleats. In my humble fashionista opinion one of the most unique uses of this accent is on accessories. If you can’t afford to add a fringe garment to your wardrobe, check out a pair of sexy feminine sandals with a flounce around the toe or a soft clutch with ruffle accents.
