White is the new black. Although it could never completely replace the LBD, the black dress has taken a back seat to the little white dress (LWD) for spring/summer 2009. This year white is not just for brides because the little white dress has taken center stage in the heat.
I will always be a big fan of the LBD because its versatile; a mere accessory takes you from daytime serious to seriously in style. Normally I steer clear of white, unless it’s a top, but I just might be tempted to indulge this season. White is downright refreshing on a hot summer day.
Some of the LWD styles gracing the magazines are irresistable and just as versatile as the LBD. The styles to choose from are endless. Dare I say, it might be torture to shop. Tailored or totally frill, one fabulous feature of spring/summer 2009 LWD is the detailing, so girly and gorgeous you could skip the accessories. Take your pick: ruffles, eyelet, sheers or goddess with one shoulder.
One fashion warning, if you're attending a warm weather wedding, it's still not advisable to wear white. Skip the LWD for this event and make a mad dive for the bouquet.
