First off, stripes is on my top 10 “I think I will pass the fashion trend list” I feel better with that out of the way. Stripes are a major fashion trend for spring 2009. Luckily for most of us full figured gals, most designers are showing narrow stripes instead of wide, whew.
To me stripes tend to conjure up two looks: menswear and gasp, nautical. I am a firm believer that stripes are perfectly fine for men’s ties, and the latter is a definite fashion don’t in my book if you are over the age of 12.
If stripes strike your fancy or you are rail thin, you will be in heaven for spring 2009. Every designer seemed to have at least acknowledged this trend, so name your poison and go for it. Try a striped t-shirt or lightweight sweater paired with this season's high waisted slacks or try a pair of striped pajama pants with either a solid, close fitting top or one of this season's fitted jackets. Or...walk on the wild side and work two trends by mix and matching your stripes...at your own risk.
My suggestion is for sure fire safe bet, work this trend with an oversized tote or clutch purse.
