Sheer genius. I am a major fan of this trend as I am a closet girly girl. Too bad people don’t dress up like they used to. Needless to say, whenever the occasion presents itself I am all over it.
I know I am not alone in being on a fashion budget this year, but it’s still a drag. I am tickled pink (ooh another trend) that even though we saw sheers in early fall/winter 2008 they have held tight for the upcoming warm weather. Believe me, sheer still looks fresh. Transparent fabrics are right in step with the current trend that worships the female form and femininity. Believe it or not, although we are seeing high fashion models grace magazines wearing all sheer outfits, this is actually a fashion trend that can be worked into your everyday wardrobe.
The sheer/ transparent trend can be actually quite modest; one suggestion for sheer blouses, tops and dresses is to layer over solid pieces. With a nude lining, rather than the bare body, the effect is ethereal, feminine and almost fairy like. A simple rule for wearing sheer, buy something that is meant to be seen under it or keep it out of sight. If you’re unsure about fully working this trend work it in slowly, try a scarf, or gorgeous hair accessory, or better yet a dress with sheer covered sleeves or back. Beautiful.
