Lucky for all of us frugal fashion fiends, many of the current fashion trends are either making a comeback or holding tight. One of the repeats is black and white. In combination, the two are totally in just about any time, not just at a black and white party. This new classic is a favorite of mine, but it can be a bit tricky. If you’re not careful you can overdo it and end up looking like a mime, checkerboard, waitress or a character from an old movie. Choose your solids and prints carefully. Less is more. One accessory is sometimes enough:
Here are a few tips for working your black and white:
1. Don’t overdo it with too many “matching items”; skip the black and white oxfords with the black and white shirt.
2. Keep your fabrics in the same season, linen white pants and a black wool sweater are not fall friendly
3. Do wear black to minimize an area and white to accent.
4. Don’t be afraid to toss a dash of another color in the mix. Try one of this season's hot colors like pink, purple or red.
5. Do wear winter white. Don’t be afraid to wear white as your main garment and add black. Pair a white sweater dress with a black belt or white wool slacks with a white t-neck sweater and black heels and handbag. There is something so dreamy elegant about white in the winter.
No grey area here,
