Late fall can be called the last hurrah before it's time to break out the big guns: heavy wool coats, fuzzy parkas and down vests. Before you go there, the perfect transitional coat for fall 2009 is the trench coat.
The trench coat is one of those garments that can be called a fashion staple and swings from functional to fashionable. One year it’s ho-hum totally un-sexy and the next year it’s so James Bond. For fall 2009 the trench coat is swinging stylish and sexy. The trench coat is can also be called an ageless garment; it can be worn by Uncle Ned, your kid brother and this week’s hottest male celebrity. The trench coat is also sexless; think Audrey Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, and the latest Burberry’s ad in Vogue or GQ.
When you think trench coat usually you think khaki, but fall 2009 isn’t about the traditional wet weather trench coats, it’s more along the lines of relaxed rain-free coats. Some of the fabrics you might want to check out are: leather, wool, suede, corduroy, or denim,
If you decide to go traditional with your trench consider car coat length or shorter. To get more bang for your buck and lengthen the life of your trench coats, you might want to consider a trench with a zip in and out lining for the coming cold weather. A trench coat looks great over jeans, a suit or even paired with khakis, dark glasses are optional .
Private eyes are watching,
