From abstract geometric prints to sharp graphic shapes, geometry takes center stage for spring/summer 2009. This is definitely not one of my favorite trends for this warm weather season as I am not a fan of geometric art and although I like retro fashions and looks, this trend is a bit too 80’s for my liking. But, since I am a fan of multi-tasking and also on a budget, I will say bold geometric prints are a fabulous way to work more than one of this season's fashion trends at one time.
Fashionistas be warned, unless you’re a big 80’s fan or totally into these prints you might want to steer clear of this trend for the sake of not looking dated. Be careful in how you use it. Personal opinion aside, the reality is that geometric prints can work for everyone. Scale the print to your size, larger frames can carry off the really bold prints well. Look for drapey fabrics that soften and modernize the look as well.
A safe suggestion for those of you who love this look but are cursed with limited budgets like the rest of us, use graphic print accessories to spice up your daytime and night-time wardrobe. For those of you investing in a full on garment in this trend, consider a dress or jacket with a boxy cut to take the geometric trend even further, but remember gals and guys, they are tough to pull off even for the seasoned fashion maven.
All angles on this one,
