Those of us fashionistas that will not be participating in the 5th season, Resort, will be consoling ourselves by starting to shop for the next official season coming down the fashion runway. That season is spring:
Polka Dots and Moonbeams. Okay maybe just polka dots. A hot fashion look for spring 2009 that is showing up on the runways and store racks is polka dots. Polka dots off all sizes and hues are all over this season’s garments and accessories. I am not a fan of polka dots; I believe they just scream “not fashion. All I can think of is Minnie Mouse, candy sprinkles, twister and other “un glamorous things. Sorry Minnie. I will be sitting this trend out, but I have to say that some designers managed to pull this idea off. It seems to be almost effortless for haute couture to make cute chic. The trick to working this trend is limiting your polka-dots to one item in your wardrobe: Try pairing a polka dot pair for flowing slacks or skirt with a solid top or vice versa. Trying a scarf or a top in a polka dot print is a safe way to try out this trend, but dire hard Polka dot fans may invest fun trench or oversized tote.
White shirt. White is always a perfect color in warm weather. This year white is making its appearance early. The white shirt is a hot fashion item for spring 2009. White shirts are a huge part of my wardrobe. I am always a fan of the color white, but for shirts and tops. I think they look great, but wearing white slacks and skirts is living too much on the edge. I spend too much time worrying I will spill something and usually do. White shirts, tops and lightweight sweaters are being featured by big names and smaller designers alike for spring 2009 and this is a trend almost anyone can wear. White shirts are a clever way to lighten up and transition your winter wardrobe into spring if you can’t spend a lot of money. A stylish white shirt is also the perfect background to show off one of spring 2009 big accessory looks, the oversized necklace.
Wiggle when you walk; Pencil Skirts. Okay gals it definitely time to hit the gym because more diet inspiration is coming down the runway for spring 2009. One of the hot fashion items for spring 2009 that you definitely want to add to your wardrobe is the pencil skirt. I am a huge fan of this style of skirt; it gives a nice retro feel that isn’t kitschy or faddish. Pencil skirts are perfect for day and evening wear and go with most styles of shoes. It may take a minute to get comfy walking in it, but it’s worth it. The shorter steps you will take give you a lady-like grace to go with the curvy silhouette. It’s hard not to feel like a femme fatal wearing one. Try pairing a pencil skirt with a same colored top to create a great business or evening look add fabulous shoes and a matching purse and you’re runway ready for the office or a hot date.
