Beach 2009 is defined by the bikini. Women of every age group are embracing this swimsuit style because there is a little something for everyone: string, high waisted, skirted, tube, halter and more. Do not be afraid ladies, take another look...
I personally feel you've got to have a great figure to comfortably wear a real string bikini and am thankful for the tankini that offers the comfort and convenience of a two piece suit with a little tummy coverage. A monokini is another choice if you don't mind the tan lines. The strategically placed fabric and cut away midriffs draw attention to and from more or less ample features, but weird tan lines for sure.
If you've got less than a perfect figure but want to wear a real bikini anyway, here are a few tips:
1. Solid colors or large prints are most flattering to a more ample frame
2. Dark colors are more slimming than light.
3. Leave boy cuts to those with boyish figures
4. Look for detail at the bust to distract from a more ample bottom
5 Make sure tankinis are long enough so as not to leave a strip of exposed skin between the top and bottom.
6. Find a sarong or skirt to use as a wrap when walking about.
7. Look for a bikini with a lot of coverage. You'll still enjoy wearing one but won't worry so much about what's not inside the suit.
Happy summer!
