There is a trend that started in 2007 that designer collections were swinging in the high fashion direction and it seems to be carrying over into 2008, everyone seems to be jumping on the high fashion couture band wagon. There seems to be a big wave of having a higher end or couture line even for designers who normally don’t go there.
I have opened several Vogue and Elle magazines and been surprised by how many primarily preppy brands are taking a spin on the runway with high fashion merchandise that is a different look for them. It’s as if everyone has gone Hollywood.
Several well known names that normally are known for the waspy, preppy look are participating in every fashion trend for 2008. Fabulous “over the top” clothing and accessories are coming from the most unusual sources. Although it’s still easy to recognize the signature details and feel, it would be quite easy to mix this merchandise with your typical fashionista wear.
I gave into preppy peer pressure in High School for about a minute and then got comfortable with my own style which tends to be more creative borderline whimsical, but I found myself considering a few items I have seen on the pages as I flip through magazines.
So turn up that collar and strut the catwalk.
