Lace was an important fabric and trim for Spring/Summer 2008, we saw it used for actual garments and accessories.
Lace is always a presence in fashion but the degree seems to change each year. For warmer weather we saw gorgeous garments and handbags covered with lace. For Fall/Winter 2008, we are seeing this trend on shoes.
For both seasons the use of lace over another fabric for the visual contrast and texture is very popular. But beware, wearing lace is a little tricky, there is fine lines between looking like a fabulous magazine ad and an escapee from an 80’s girl band.
I am not a huge fan of this look and in my opinion some designers didn’t pull this off, but its best efforts are done in black. No matter what your shoe of choice is there is something for you. All level designers are showing both open and closed shoes, boots and pumps.
My advice is if you plan to work this trend you may want to dish out the dollars for a big name designer since they seem to have pulled this trend off best.
Match a shoe with a fabulous lace embossed bag and you have an instant fabulous party look.
