Jewelry is definitely a part of the scene for 2008 in a big, big way.  The bigger the better seems to be the motto for most accessories.

One jewelry accessory that is being singled out are bangles, or the bangle.  For those of you not in the know, bangles are oversized bracelets that float at times quite noisily up and down your arm as you move.

Being curious I looked up the official definition; "ornaments worn mainly by women, but men may also choose to wear, on their arms and wrists.  They are usually circular in shape, and, unlike bracelets, are not flexible. The word is derived from the Hindu language”. I was close except for the Hindu part.

Like most fashion and fashion items, bangles go in and out of fashion.  For 2008 they are in.  Although they are often worn for cultural reasons, and some women are just die hard fans, they are always visible but for 2008 they are especially hot.

Bangles run the gamut from wood, to plastic, to semi precious and pricey metals.  Thumbing through the magazines, I see that every trend is represented; one could say there are bangles for every occasion.

Wood and interesting neutral prints and colors are perfect for the Ethnic, Natural Safari look.  Bright colors in clear and solid plastics are perfect for the bold bright color movement.  Gold, Silver, Bronze and other “metals” can also go safari, and are perfect for either a classic or classic, hippie gypsy look.

There is no right or wrong way to work this, wear one very large bangle alone, or pile on a whole slew of them mixing and matching.  This is definitely a fun accessory and the fashion advice seems to be the more the merrier.
