The fashion mantra used to be ”less is more” but not this season. For spring/summer 2009 more is definitely better. While everyone else is cutting back everywhere they can, designers and stylists are wholeheartedly embracing excess. I am not talking about excess in terms of indulging in over-priced luxury items like we have seen in previous fashion seasons, but the generous use of accents, detailing on garments and accessories. For the upcoming warm weather, every good fashionista and fashion designer is chanting more, more, and more.
Relax gals; this mantra is for what to wear not for shopping. When you’re getting dressed and accessorizing, just remember a few simple rules: More color, more detailing, more prints and definitely more accessories. It’s almost impossible to overdo it when getting dressed this season. Spring/summer 2009 is pretty much a fashion free for all.
Feel free to mix and match patterns and fabrics. Go ahead and overdo it in the color department and pahleeze pile on the jewelry, fine and faux. Although I am a fan of the less is more fashion school of thought, I think this is a nice change and a great pick me up for everyone in these lean times. Think of it as fashion multitasking or some other rationalization of your choice.
