Unless you’re living in the Northeast chances are you are beginning to feel the heat of summer. There is nothing more tragic for a fashionista than putting together the perfect ensemble and then, shall I say, losing your cool by wilting in the heat. Sometimes you just can’t beat the heat for one reason or another, but you can try. Here are several warm weather fashion ideas:
1. Wear white or light colored clothing, Basic science, light colors reflect rather than absorb heat. Light colors are visually cooling as well and look great especially with a light tan.
2. Wear natural fiber fabrics that breathe, like linen or cotton. If you must wear synthetics, wear the kind that wick. Wicking is manufacturer-speak for fabric that absorbs and manages perspiration. Look especially for yoga inspired leisure sportswear with heat managing fabrics.
3. Wear loose fitting clothing in lightweight fabrics. Nothing feels worse on a hot day than tight clothing. Choose dresses in silhouettes that drape away from the body, like A-line dresses, baby doll dresses and skirts.
4 Wear “no fuss hair:”ponytails, chignons or even try out a short haircut for the summer months. Keep it simple, off the face and neck.
5. Wear minimal makeup with great lips and eyes and don’t forget the sunscreen.
6. Be sure to keep a stash of gauzy cardigans and wraps when you do find the welcomed relief of air conditioning or the evening air.
If all else fails, dazzle with your smile and cool confidence, perhaps they won’t notice you're sweating.
Smiling,
