Cheap chic. Due to the economy the term Budget Fashionista is not just limited to us gals on a budget. Being a budget fashionista is no longer, a fad or kitschy it’s downright a necessity. Since fall/winter 2008 most of us have been tightening our fashion belt and we are taking it in a notch as the warm weather approaches.
Lucky for us lots of trends in fashion have carried over into the current and upcoming season. Shopping for a bargain is no longer the walk of shame. From the runway to the mall, saving money has become key and is suddenly chic. Hallelujah the options are endless.
Spring/summer 2009 is seeing a slew of famous name designers producing collections for stores like Target, H&M, and Kohl’s to name a few. People who never shopped at or considered these brands are shopping without shame in store and online. Many of these brands are luring in even the snootiest shoppers with low or free shipping. It's not just designers' affordable lines that are making news: in-your-face consumption of designer labels and gone-in-a-flash fads are no longer covetable, but downright offensive during economic hard times.
Unfair as it may seem, there will always be the chosen few who can afford to pay for big designer names and even impractical pricey clothes. I have heard rumors of folks that just can’t control themselves reduced to shopping online and enlisting personal shoppers for the first time to avoid the press.
Cheap, cheap,
Tracey
