Oversized is back in style for spring 2009, but with a twist. Don’t break out the Ben and Jerry’s just yet. I am not talking about the oversized that hid your shape and looked like your older brother's shirt over leggings, which was in style once upon a time. So put that lid back on.
For spring 2009 designers are putting a new twist on the oversized look. Instead of the whole garment having an oversized roomy look, every designer from Paris to your local mall is concentrating on one accent on the garment, like shoulders, and exaggerating it.
Try a bolero jacket with enormous puffy sleeves or a pencil skirt with exaggerated hips and hemline. Another fabulous idea is a fitted jacket with exaggerated peplum to create or accent your hourglass figure. It's sort of a retro futuristic look if you will. This trend still has a fresh current feel, although you might want to choose your garment wisely to avoid it ending up in a time capsule. Try something basic and add your own or some of the hot new accessories and you will definitely look like a fashionista in the know.
Relax or get nervous whichever the case may be.
