Accessories are still coming on strong since the beginning of 2008 and its more of the same for 2009’s coming seasons. Belt widths tend to expand and contract with each season, but there is always something for everyone.
Very wide belts that cinch the waist always have a following, and spring 2009 will probably capture more fans, because just about every name in the industry is including this accessory in their upcoming lines.
Wider belts create an hourglass figure that flows right along with the whimsical feminine themes we have been seeing since Fall/Winter 2008. I wonder if this is some cruel joke or fabulous diet incentive following so closely behind the holidays.
There are some beautiful belts and actual corsets coming down the runway, so I am going to go with diet incentive. I am a big fan of this trend, I love the look it creates, it gives a feminine touch to garments just by accenting the waist and giving garments a new look.
I would definitely add a few to my wardrobe if my waist was where it is supposed to be, so I will be sitting this trend out.
