Now that most of us have bundled up and will be spending a majority of our time in coats it’s time for drastic fashion measures to make outerwear fun and stylish.
One of the trends right now for coats is short sleeved or even sleeveless coats and jackets. At first glance and thought, outerwear without sleeves (and not a vest) sound completely impractical but there is a method to this cold weather fashion madness.
With a sleeveless or short sleeve coat you can wear a thick sweater without the sleeves bunching up and more importantly you can show off a great pair of gloves or fabulous handbag. I am definitely a fan of this trend. A poncho style wrap is another way to work with this trend if you are more of an artsy type. Otherwise the short sleeve coat looks very retro, feminine and ties in nicely with a lot of the other current trends this season. Grey flannel is a winner here as the color can be combined with so many others, but designers are offering several other fabrication choices including: tweed, velvet, wool. brocade, faux fur or heavy cotton (in warmer climes).
