Odds are you will be doing some serious eating, drinking and dancing over the holidays. You may want to keep tabs on your food and drink intake, but you don’t want to miss a beat when you’re dancing.
Although high heels on shoes and boots are a major trend for fall/winter 2009, designers must have had dancing all night as inspiration for this season’s embellished flats. Since I can’t walk in heels to save my life, I am a big fan of this trend. Some of the styles are fancy enough to build your outfit around rather than vice versa. One outfit I plan on using is dressing in all all black, and with a fabulous pair of show stopping ballet flats.
Because we are all on a fashion budget this year, how about buying a pair of plain flats and purchasing several festive shoe clips? If you’re more the DIY type, make your own with baubles, bows and buckles. Otherwise go for it and splurge just a bit. You are sure to want to use them again. This year you will find embellished flats in the usual leather and suede as well as tweed, patent leather, silk, velvet , sequins and reptile skin. Look for embellishments in bows, florets, rhinestones, buckles, sequins, animal skin, pointy and rounded toes. Sky's the limit with these.
If you just can bear to part with your heels, you might want to bring along your flats for a quick change before cutting up the rug.
Feet won't fail me in these!
