We saw ballet flats over the holidays all dressed up with baubles, bangles, beads and bows, but for spring, along with the embellishments, ballet flats are going old school….ballet school that is.
The choices are endless; some designers are also taking us back to the pretty, dainty and often pink flats. The functional elastic band has been traded in for pretty bows by Paul Smith and Viktor and Rolf. For the non-traditionalist try floral patterned flats by Casadei and the same with gold beads by Gucci.
I do like flat shoes, but typically shy away from the round toe, so lucky for me, a lot of these pretty in pinks are also pointed styles (Marc Jacobs and Missoni for example). If you aren’t the dainty type, check out styles in hot bright colors by Taryn Rose or Donald Pliner or take a walk on the wild side in hot animal prints by Proenza Schuler or open toed Cole Hahn.
