I absolutely love that so many trends are holding tight in the fashion world all the while continuing to look new and fresh.
Mixing prints is still one of my favorites, it just makes me smile and think of little kids who dress themselves in their favorites all at once; no mind to matching. This season more mainstream designers are showing this trend and designers that are known for it are taking the trend of mixing and matching one step further. Prada is a good example.
The rule, if you will, was to work within the color palate when you mix and match. This season it appears anything goes. Designers are showing black and white stripes and prints with colorful florals and prints. Do it with separates like a blouse and skirt. Talk about maximizing your wardrobe in a recession! Think of the fabulous outfits you could come up with and energy saved getting dressed in the dark. That might be taking it a bit too far. But seriously, let your imagination run free.
There are a few “rules” or suggestions rather you might want to follow. You might want to match similar fabrications and seasons, but so many fashion don’ts are now do’s you might want to just aim for simply making sure your garments are clean. As much as I love this trend, my warning is to just have fun and know that some fashionista folks will pull this look off better than others.
For those of us uncertain about throwing it all together I think that just the tiniest bit of color coordination still works nicely for this trend -- even though its a bit "past season."
