I haven’t worn knee socks in years. I guess I am an all or nothing type of gal, it's socks or tights for me. I like this trend, but don’t think it's for me -- you've got to go super short on the skirts to make this look work.
Since the fashion world gave us such ornate and colorful hosiery for fall, winter and holiday 2009, I opted for dresses a lot more often than I usually do in the cold. The weather IS getting a bit warmer, but we still need to wear a little something something on our legs till things really heat up. This trend is the perfect answer to this in between seasons fashion dilemma. If you don’t want to wear panty hose and stockings these knee socks are a fun option.
I've seen some cut out versions as well, where it’s as if designers took scissors and randomly cut out shapes. It works! This trend is also a fun twist on legwarmers and the over the knee socks we saw come in through winter. In case you’re wondering what to wear this cutout hosiery with; the answer is what else, cut-out shoes and boots.
You can check this trend out by high fashion designers like Alexander Wang, but I am sure with a little bargain hunting you can find some by familiar names like Hue, Chinese Laundry or hosiery newcomers like Juicy Couture.
