One white hot look for spring 2009 is wrap detailing. This accent is showing up all over on garments and accessories alike. The look was big in the 80’s and has reemerged hotter than ever.
On dresses this trend is very reminiscent of past Azzedine Alaia designs constructed of bands of body hugging fabric. For Spring 2009 designers are taking this one step further, along with sexy sassy banded dresses, tops and skirts, they are actually wrapping ribbons of fabric and leather on garments. The most popular color combination appears to be black and white.
I am not sure about this fashion trend, as it might date the garment for future seasons, but I have seen some really interesting clothes and accessories. The placement of the ribbons tends to dictate the look of the garment. Placement on the waistline gives a sexy hourglass shape, and ribbons all over give tops and minis a fun retro or punk look.
For those of you who are slaves to fashion this might be the season’s signature the look; it is being dubbed as bondage by most fashion editors. If you don’t swing that way try one of the fabulous accessories or shoes that are wrapped up in this trend to update your wardrobe.
