Guys are paying a lot more attention to fashion this season all while maintaining that manly edge. Men's fashion is going in two extreme directions, from very dressed up in a retro gentlemanly way, to extremely casual and masculine -- think working man's wear, heavy jackets, rough looking jeans, textured sweaters, hoodies. This is a rough outdoormans' kind of look. The visual? Refined fly-fisherman maybe.
Here are a few rugged basics for adding a little roughness, even if you are just going to a Cafe on a Saturday:
1. A sturdy coat, wool, down or shearling.
2. Belts in woven suede or leather with a brass buckle to wear with cords, denim or khakis.
3. Trade in your crisp ironed khakis for a couple of well worn pairs.
4. A pair of rugged lace up boots in a neutral color, but remember brown is the new black.
5. Stock up on sturdy shirts, if you’re over the plaid craze there is denim, corduroy and oxford to choose from.
Remember to only add one or two “tough Items” per outfit to avoid stepping over into the lumberjack zone.
