For spring 2009 it’s all about the back. Designers of all walks of life and pocketbooks are paying very close attention to detailing for this and the coming seasons, but the back seems to be making the first fashion impression.
I am a big fan of this. It’s very old Hollywood glamour and retro looking. Most designers are having a lot of fun with this fashion trend and I've seen some really fabulous garments.
All types of embellishments are being used for back accents, but the bow seems to be quite popular and one of my personal favorites. It’s not often you can wear bows on your clothes after age 6 and get away with it, so have fun. The nice thing about this trend it draws attention to a body part that maybe most of us don’t fret over and makes it a flattering focal point.
Try a skirt or dress with a saucy bow at the bustle or a row of bows at the hem or down the back. Cut-outs and draping are also popular back accents. This fashion trend works on both long and short garments and adds a lot of drama. Although it tends to give a dressy look it's right in style with the other fashion trends that sing praise to the joys of being a girl for spring 2009.
