Boots in general have been the shoe of the minute since the beginning of fall/winter 2009 and strange as it may be, a style that is very much in the spotlight is the cut-out.
This boot has walked a fashion mile right into the cooler weather. We saw an early version of this in the cage shoe for spring/summer 2009. I am not a toe bearing shoe fan, but I do like this look and may break down and add a pair to my shoe collection. If it’s just way too late to go bare in these boots where you live, it’s a stroke of fashion luck that several designers, stylists and fashion icons are showing this shoe with this season’s very cool hosiery and socks.
High stiletto, low heeled, wedge or platforms, you’re sure to find a pair of cut out boots that is perfect for you. Styles run from ankle to thigh-high, and you may want to stick with neutrals like black, brown or grey to make it easier to work into your winter wardrobe.
I realize this boot is more fashion vs. function, but it is not as impractical as it seems: Here are some ideas for wearing the cut out boot as the temperature goes down:
1. Match your hose to your cut out shoe or boot, a continuing flow of color will elongate and create height.
2. Match your hosiery to your top or sweater for an instant outfit.
3. Black Tights, need I say more? This trend is all over the magazines and catwalks.
4. Wear ankle socks and work two trends at once.
5. Grin and bare it all the while knowing that although your toes might be cold you're right in style .
Yours in boots,
