I love the holidays, as I am always excited about any reason to dress up a bit and wear some extra glitz and glam. Headbands are one of this season’s trends that are perfect for adding extra sparkle to your look.
Headbands were hot over the warmer months and are one of the crossover trends that are still popular. Always “in” for function headbads a a great resscue for a bad hair day, but for fall/winter 2009 and especially holiday, headbands are more fun that function.
I always think it’s unfair that little girls get to wear the really feminine and whimsical headbands so it’s nice to see big girls who normally don’t wear headbands, giving in to some of the simply gorgeous ones designers are coming up with. I have seen several headbands that borderline crowns and works of art. Fear not, if you’re not ready to wear a tiara-like headband and be the queen, you can start off as a princess with something simple like a simple narrow metal band with rhinestones. If rhinestones aren’t your cup of tea, check out some of the other adornments being used on holiday headbands: Feathers, Silk or fresh Flowers and leaves, Leather, Fabric cord and netting, Semi and precious metals.
Headbands are also a great way to stretch your fashion dollar, you can do the reverse of dressing around your shoes and use a beautiful headband as the main focus of your outfit or break out your glue gun and DIY after being inspired by magazines.
If headbands just aren't your think, look to silk or embroidered scarves in golds and holiday hues, or a sparkling holiday brooch for a little extra outfit pop in the same vein.
