Black stockings are a hot fashion accessory for Fall/Winter 2008.
You’re probably asking “what’s so new about that? Well, I am not talking shear or textured stockings, but black opaque.
Black stockings are gracing the catwalk and magazine pages and they are being paired with clothing and shoes you might not have thought to pair up. No longer are black opaque stockings being limited to just being functional. It’s a fresh fashion trend, with what I think has a European flavor.
I personally like this look, although I am not sure yet I will be working it into my wardrobe. It may go against your fashion upbringing, but black stocking are being worn with lighter color clothing and lighter weight fabrics and it works.
I think one of the great tragedies of a fashionsta’s life is having to put away her really fabulous shoes when cooler weather returns each year. Thanks to this fashion trend, this year suffering is defiantly optional. This season it’s quite stylish and even practical to extend the life of fabulous warmer weather footwear.
Try wearing a pair of open or peep toe shoes with black opaque hosiery or a pale dress or suit. If you just can’t be that daring, you can always work this trend in private under a great pair of slacks.
