Yes you heard me right, leather shorts. Leather was a hot trend for fall and winter 2009; it took us to work, and out to play, both dressy and casual. Now we're seeing leather shorts. Most people have a tendency to put their leather away as the weather gets warmer, I know I have been prone to do this, but not this year. I have decided to be a bit more daring in my dress; I need a serious pick-me-up. Leather shorts are right up there in the fashion fun department.
Perhaps it’s because we are all trying to get more bang for our fashion buck, but it seems that lots of ‘seasonal wardrobe items are becoming ‘season-less”. I am a real fan of the leather shorts trend. It’s hot and actually not as high fashion as you might think . I may have to take it down a notch for my versions, but I love most of the layouts for this trend.
These are not leather shorts of the leder-hosen variety. Most are quite short and I have to say, provocative. I will be experimenting with what to pair with mine, maybe an untucked white blouse and open blazer. That might tone down the va-va-voom factor a bit.
You will definitely want to shop wisely unless you have the budget for the big names like Celine, Alexander Wang or Marni. With a little bargain hunting you can work this trend by check ing out some more affordable labels like Alice and Olivia or Charlotte Ronson.
My plan, until the weather gets warmer, is to work this trend with some interesting hosiery and shoes until I can go it bare legged.
