There's a lot in my closet I don't need. I really wish I paid more attention to key basics rather than always buying the latest trends. Tis true that no matter what the latest styles are, there are several items we should all have in our closets ensuring we have something to wear; classy never goes out of style you know, case in point, Michelle Obama, whose looks evoke the days of Jackie O.
Here are my suggestions:
Black dress. You should have this dress in your closet because you can use a number of accessories to make it look different.
Great fitting or jeans you love. Get a classic pair of Levi’s, or whatever your favorite brand be it True Religion, or Joe's Jeans. Be sure they fit you perfectly (buy them tight-they always stretch out) and you will always look amazing in a nick of time.
A classic black suit that can be worn everywhere and paired with any accessories. This suit should have no details and no bright spots, simplicity is the key
It-bag. Generally this means solid bags from Chanel, Birkin, Coach, Burberry and etc. These standbys are timeless and classic, looking elegant and stylish but not modern and fresh. If your budget won’t allow for these name brands check out knock-off or copy-cat styles look for one on-sale or at consignment.
Two staple skirts, one short and one long, but not too long or short. They should be, classic and conservative, solid black is most versatile.
Sweater set. Buy a couple of completely simple sweaters, they should be one-color so you can wear them with anything.
Pearls even if you not a big jewelry fan, you can pair pearls with any ensemble and always look elegant. Black pearls offer a classic with a twist.
Blouse. A white button-down shirt is classic and versatile
Shoes. Black flats and black heels. They go with anything. A cool pair of sneaks for sweats days are essential too.
From deep in my closet, cheers,
