For those of you disgustingly lucky fashionistas that will actually need to purchase Resort Wear here are a few fashion looks and items you should add to your wardrobe.
Caftans are going to be hot this coming season and in an array of all shapes and sizes. The caftans of spring 2009 are both long and short from shorter tunics to long flowing, feminine gowns. Many have chic embellishments with jewels and beads, and cinching with one of this season great belts offers a far more feminine silhouette.
Caftans are actually quite functional, because they can pull fashion double duty: 1 as a cover-up on the beach and 2. as day or evening wear. Try wearing a caftan over swimwear to camouflage holiday lumps and bumps. Short tunic styles are great as respectable cover ups on the beach and can pass as a top in the city with skinny jeans and a wide leather belt. For evenings, long flowing caftan gowns add feminine chic, but avoid voluminous loose tents which drown the figure and make items appear larger than they are. Caftans that one are the most flattering will skim over the figure and that’s definitely always in fashion.
In plain Black and White; Black on White Print; The colors black and white by themselves alternate on a regular basis as the latest “color” of the season. For Spring 2009 black and white are being shown together for a hot look for the season. Although it can be hard to distinguish sometimes, typically we see white print on a black backround not vice versa, yes its true.. Spring 2009’s fresh take on this color combo is black print on a white backround.
The black on white prints are subtle, but deliberate and so are the geometric prints. Black and white seems to be a favorite color combo that fits all seasons, but this together it reminds me of the sixties. But its not a favorite of mine. There is something about the combo of black and white that reminds me of themes, is dated and screams” uniform or costume of some kind,” but that’s just me.
Full Trousers. Finally!! Full legged trousers are in style. Thank goodness!!!. Along with being timely to hide those extra holidays pounds we haven’t addressedyet, full and wide-legged trousers are one of my favorites. They are comfortable and look great on.. I especially love the Katherine Hepburn menswear look or the pajama like look of the 1940’s. There are several choices available on the racks and this trend is influencing all lengths of trousers. From full length pants, to shorts and rompers, Wide legged trousers are hot for Spring 2009. Basic trousers are garments that were once strictly for men but were quickly adopted by women for everyday wear. Spring 2009 Trousers run the gamut from the crisp menswear look to fluid feminine, to ethnic inspired shapes to chic cropped cuts. Try paring your spring 2009 trousers with blazers, blouses and knits and top your look off with a fabulous pair of shoes and matching handbag..
