Four teams within the ABA met the qualifications needed in order to join the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs were one of those teams. George Gervin continued to put up big numbers as he won his third consecutive scoring title during the 1979-1980 season with a career high average of 31.1 ppg. The fast paced, sharp shooting Spurs played their way to a second place finish in the Eastern Conferences Central Division. In 1980, Gervin was selected to his fourth consecutive NBA All Star game. Gervin led the Easts offensive attack and left the arena with a game high of 34 points and the MVP award.
