That is a long way from its very humble beginnings.
The year was 1982 and young Kenneth Cole had a dream to start a shoe company, but that took a little more capital than he had. So, with a little innovative thinking, he formed Kenneth Cole Productions Inc. and applied for a permit to shoot a film called “The Birth of a Shoe Company.” In just two and a half days 40,000 shoes were sold out of the back of a 40-foot trailer in Midtown Manhattan, and a shoe company was in fact born.
